IDS Hosting is about to update its website to be more user-friendly, easier to access information be it help info or sales info etc.

Since IDS offers Joomla! websites as part of its product range, we have decided to use the same for its own website requirements which will double as a demo site to show how flexible this type of website approach is.

The method used to access & update the site, change its structure, categorise content or re-categorise content, change the look and feel by means of a template that loads over the content which is easily changed and other great advantages like all the content is sourced in a database, to back up a sql database is easy and does not use a lot of space, dynamically created pages and much more …

We will keep you updated on the progress. any input during and after the update will be appreciated.

October 14, 2009 | Comments | Joomla

Joomla Template Builder is a great way to create your own Joomla Templates, for Version 1.0 & Version1.5

The process is very simple, once you have a site hosted with IDS Hosting, this makes you eligible to access this facility to down load the base template.

Install Joomla (V1.5 recommended, support to V1.0 has stopped), easiest way is via the Fantastico De Luxe Icon in your own cPanel. Click on Joomla 1.5, follow the prompts, and its installed.

Open up the Joomla Admin section, goto Extensions > Install/Uninstall add in the path of the zip file you have down loaded, the base joomla template.

Go to the joomla template builder web site and start building your template.

Watch the video and go to the document section for help, the process is simple but very effective.

Once you have completed your desgin you are presented with the code which you will copy and paste into the file/s they tell you to insert it into. All is explained in the online video.

The design process can be done over as many times as you wish, there is no limit.

Remember to set your new template to default in Joomla Admin.
How: Goto Joomla admin again, Menu: Extensions > Template Manager, click the little radio button next to jtb_template, then click Default, top right of your screen, now go view your site.
